The 'Remer' wine goblet from the late 19th century is an example of Art Nouveau artistic glass produced by the Theresienthal glassworks under the direction of Michael von Poschinger in Bavaria. Mouth-blown, it presents a harmonious composition: a spherical, hand-engraved bowl with a grapevine motif, a robust baluster-shaped stem with a high-set nodus adorned with three hot-applied ‘raspberries’, and a broad, ribbed foot. The use of warm, amber-yellow glass for the stem and base, paired with the nearly clear, subtly yellow-tinted bowl, highlights the clarity and luminosity of the piece. The surface is smooth, polished, and glossy, showing no signs of wear or patina. The goblet is in very good condition, with no damage or evidence of restoration.This goblet tells the story of fin de siècle Europe—a time when Bavaria stood at the forefront of artistic glassmaking.
