ABOUT PRODUCTID 21955
This Art Nouveau wine jug with Gothic motifs was crafted around 1900 in Cologne, Germany. Made of brass with a plated finish, it features a muted, antique gold tone with a cool undertone and a matte, aged patina. The slender, tapering body stands on a wide, round base and is topped with a domed, tiered lid finished with a decorative finial. The highly ornate, openwork handle displays stylized leaf and plant motifs, characteristic of both Art Nouveau and Gothic Revival aesthetics. An elongated, elegantly curved spout accentuates the vessel’s silhouette, while decorative bands with engraved floral and geometric patterns encircle the upper body. Visible craftsmanship details include rivets securing the handle and subtle tonal variations on the surface. The jug’s proportions are harmonious, with a strong vertical emphasis and a balanced overall form. The underside bears a dedication from 1913, referencing Lüdenscheid, Germany. The condition is good, with typical signs of age, minor scratches, and a consistent patina. All decorative and structural elements remain original, underscoring the authenticity and historical value of the piece. The jug’s form tells the story of a turn-of-the
