This WMF wine jug from the late 19th century exemplifies the Rococo style in German metalwork. Crafted from silver-plated pewter, it presents a cool, gunmetal hue with a subtle, matte sheen. The body gently flares toward the base, forming a harmonious silhouette supported by four intricately shaped feet. The surface is adorned with raised decoration: vine leaves, grape clusters, and sinuous rocaille scrolls, all typical of Rococo ornamentation. The highly stylized handle flows into a hinged domed lid, finished with a sculpted finial echoing organic motifs. On the front, a laurel wreath frames a reserved space for engraving a dedication or monogram. The jug is signed with the WMF hallmark on the underside, attesting to its authenticity and origin in the renowned German silversmithing workshops. There are minor discolorations, gentle patina, and slight surface wear consistent with age, but no significant damage – the jug remains in good collectible condition.
