This French Empire writing set dating to around 1840 comprises a cut crystal inkwell, a spiral-twisted dip pen, and an initial seal, all housed in an original presentation case. The inkwell is made of high-grade, hand-cut crystal, accented with matte and polished gilt bronze fittings adorned by a bas-relief motif of classical dancing figures, emblematic of the late Empire style. The pen features a spiraled shaft terminating in a polished ball finial and decorative application, while the seal handle repeats the relief detail and bears a delicately engraved monogram, its structure robust and balanced in hand. The rectangular presentation box is clad in deep red leather with tooled gold foliate borders, lined in white ruched satin and rich burgundy velvet, measuring 21 × 8.5 × 7.5 cm; the pen is 21 cm long, the inkwell 3.5 × 3.5 × 5.6 cm, and the seal 6 cm (stamp diameter 1.6 cm).
