ABOUT PRODUCTID 4986
This amphora, designed by Zbigniew Horbowy for the 'Sudety' Glassworks in Szczytna Śląska in the 1970s, stands as a representative example of Polish mid-century modern art glass. Made from cased sodium glass, the vessel features an intricate color gradient: warm amber at the base transitions through honey and beige in the center, culminating in a deep red and near-black at the neck. The elegantly arched handle mirrors this chromatic shift, moving from yellow through orange to red. The seamless transitions of color and the harmonious proportions evoke a dialogue between nature and modernity—as if the vessel captures both the warmth of amber and the energy of red, focusing light and hue in its narrow neck. The handle, reminiscent of a flowing ribbon, invites touch and draws the gaze into the depth of the transparent glass. There is a balance of artisanal precision and artistic boldness that is characteristic of Horbowy's school. The amphora could serve as a striking accent on a living room console or bookshelf, where its color gradient will interact with both daylight and artificial illumination. It pairs well with minimalist furnishings in
