ABOUT PRODUCTID 2639
The 'Hotspot Lounge Chair', designed by Otto Zape for Drabert in the 1980s, stands as a vivid example of postmodern design thinking. Its construction centers on a wide, softly padded, round seat surrounded by asymmetrically placed armrests: a thick one on the left and a high, block-like form on the right serving both as armrest and partial backrest. Upholstered in an intense, saturated fabric in tones of red, orange, and grey, the chair’s dynamic silhouette is further emphasized by the upholstery’s matte finish and subtle stitching along the edges. The base, crafted from brushed silver-toned metal in a cross-shaped, flat-footed design, adds an industrial accent and ensures stability. The matte textile and generous seat echo an era in which comfort was as valued as visual statement, while the metal base discreetly nods to the era’s fascination with technology and industrial detail. The 'Hotspot Lounge Chair' could be paired with a minimalist sofa with clean lines or low chrome-and-glass tables to highlight its sculptural presence. It would work well in a modernist living room or an eclectic collector’s interior, where it could provide contrast alongside classic wood or soft
