ABOUT PRODUCTID 12544
This Art Deco bonbonniere, produced in the 1930s in Poland by the Józefina Glassworks, is crafted from thick, faceted crystal in a saturated, amber-orange tone. Sharply cut geometric facets alternate with smooth vertical planes, creating a striking interplay of light and shadow in the spirit of the Art Deco style. The substantial, architectural lid handle—with its crisp, angular profile—recalls the era’s distinctive motifs. The glossy glass finish amplifies light reflection, accentuating the brilliance of the precise cutting and giving the bonbonniere notable depth. Inside, a small (approx. 1 cm) crack is visible along the rim; apart from this minor flaw, the piece remains in very good condition with no major chips or external damage, and all elements appear original and authentic to its vintage character. The silhouette and color of this crystal piece evoke the voice of interwar Poland: when Józefina was a hallmark of quality glassware, the bonbonniere speaks of refined craftsmanship and an appreciation for the interplay of light across faceted surfaces. The sharply outlined, geometric handle echoes modernist architectural language, while the amber hue radiates the era’s elegant warmth, reflecting a time when prestige and everyday usefulness walked hand in hand. The bonbonniere could serve as a decorative accent on a sideboard in the living room, or as part of a table setting in the dining room or kitchen—its crystalline form well-suited to interiors inspired by Art Deco, vintage collections, or modernist arrangements where it contrasts with understated porcelain or matte textiles. It can be paired with tableware in warm hues, chrome accessories, or other cut-glass pieces to highlight its historical pedigree and capacity to gather and refract light in fine detail.
