ABOUT PRODUCTID 15493
This art glass ashtray, attributed to Josef Hospodka for Chribska Sklarna, was produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s. Hand-formed from transparent fuchsia-colored glass, its organic silhouette—measuring 13 x 13 x 6 cm—displays warm, reddish undertones that intensify in the thicker areas of the bowl. The piece is characterized by a biomorphic design: smooth, curving contours merge into subtly undulating edges, where integrated grooves function as both cigarette rests and visual accents. The highly polished surface reflects light with clarity, while the variation in wall thickness creates layered color effects, ranging from deep magenta to soft, nearly pink shades. There are no visible seams, evidence of high-quality craftsmanship and glassblowing technique. The overall finish is smooth and free from decorative etching, distinguished solely by its glossy sheen. Condition: very good, with only minimal, age-appropriate signs of use and no chips, cracks, or deep scratches. The glass tells the story of Central European design sensibilities from the 1960s—where organic form met saturated color and a taste for expressive clarity.
