ABOUT PRODUCTID 19871
This ceramic bonbonniere from the 1950s, most likely produced by Ćmielów, is a testament to Polish Art Nouveau. Its low, rounded base and gently domed lid form a harmonious, enclosed silhouette. Made from ceramic in a warm, ivory-cream shade and covered with a glossy glaze, the surface is adorned with hand-painted floral and botanical motifs in subdued tones of pink, green, brown, and black. The decoration is arranged asymmetrically in the spirit of the era, with fine contours and soft shading highlighting the craftsmanship. A narrow gold band traces the edge – worn and faded in places. A fine network of glaze crazing and local discolorations on the surface speak to the piece’s age. The bonbonniere is preserved in very good condition, free from major damage – exhibiting natural patina and traces of use typical for vintage ceramics. This bonbonniere tells a quiet story from bygone decades – its organic lines and soft glaze evoke the atmosphere of past parlors and bedrooms, where everyday rituals were wrapped in attention to detail. The floral motifs, set in an asymmetrical arrangement, recall the early 20th century, when objects served both practical use and sensory delight. The gilded rim, now gently worn, flickers with the light of past evenings, while the web of crazing in the glaze whispers of time passing and the small treasures – notes, jewelry, keepsakes – once kept inside. The bonbonniere will find its place atop a sideboard or console in a living room, where it can serve as a subtle accent against wood, stone, or naturally textured textiles. It can be combined with other period porcelains or glassware, and positioned
