Produced by the Szandrik manufactory at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, this sugar bowl exemplifies Art Nouveau craftsmanship from the territory of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, now Austria. Crafted from brass plated with silver, it features a compact cylindrical form resting on four gracefully curved legs. The surface is adorned with intricate, stylized thistle engravings—organic lines and naturalistic motifs emblematic of the Secessionist era. The cool, matte silvery finish is accented by subtle golden touches on the decorative thistles and the sculptural handle. The hinged lid is topped with a sculpted, dual-part handle reminiscent of entwined plant stems, reinforcing the bowl's botanical inspiration. Precision in both engraving and casting is evident, while proportions—10.5 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter—lend it an intimate, table-ready scale. The overall condition is very good: only minimal signs of use are present, with no significant scratches or dents, and the original patina is preserved.This sugar bowl carries the spirit of the fin de siècle, when applied art drew ever closer to the rhythms and forms of nature.
