ABOUT PRODUCTID 24986
This late 19th-century tea caddy, produced by Pallme König in Steinschonau, Austria, is a distinctive example of Art Nouveau glassware. The main body is crafted from iridescent glass in a pearly beige hue, tinted with subtle pinkish-lavender undertones and finished with a lustrous, shimmering surface typical of the movement’s golden era. Decorative green glass threads are applied in flowing, organic patterns inspired by natural motifs—a hallmark of Art Nouveau design. The lid, rim, and movable handle are made from nickel-plated brass with a polished, shiny finish. The form is cylindrical with gently rounded shoulders, and the proportions are harmonious, emphasizing the artistic character of the piece. All elements appear original and well-preserved. The condition is very good, with no visible damage, cracks, or signs of restoration, and only minimal traces of age. This vessel echoes the refined voice of late 19th-century Secessionist Europe—a time when glassware came alive in the play of light, and everyday objects became works of art. Its iridescent tones, shifting from pearly beige to delicate green threads, recall the luminous salons of the era, where sunlight danced across undulating lines of glass and metal. The decorative veining, evoking climbing plants, gently blends the tea caddy’s utilitarian purpose with the artistic flair of Art Nouveau, which celebrated organic rhythms and harmony with nature. The tea caddy may be displayed on a
