ABOUT PRODUCTID 24971
This biscuit jar from the 1920s exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of the Art Nouveau era, made from highly transparent, colorless glass. The main decorative motif is a matte, deeply engraved spider at work on its web, with the satiny, slightly rough surface providing a tactile contrast to the jar’s smooth, glossy body. The glass is thick and gently vertically profiled, and the form subtly narrows towards the top, emphasizing the organic silhouette typical of Art Nouveau. The hinged lid and the undulating handle with stylized heart-shaped cutouts are crafted from bright, silvered or nickel-plated brass, attached with rounded, visible joints. Proportions are harmonious, with a wide, stable base and a tapering body. The construction is precise, with well-fitted glass and metal elements. The condition is very good—there are no chips or cracks in the glass, only slight rubbing of the silver finish on the edge. This jar echoes the voice of early 20th-century Art Nouveau: the flowing lines and the spider motif evoke the period’s fascination with nature. The interplay between the frosted web and the glossy glass conjures the fleeting beauty of daily rituals
