ABOUT PRODUCTID 36053
This Art Deco bonbonniere, produced in the interwar period by the 'Hortensja' Glassworks in Piotrków Trybunalski, exemplifies the mastery of Polish glassmaking from the 1920s and 1930s. The bowl and lid are crafted from delicate rosaline glass in a soft, warm shade of pink, contrasted by the deep black of the hyalite glass forming the pedestal and pointed finial. The overall silhouette is geometric and balanced, with a wide, gently flared vessel rising to a domed lid, adorned with finely hand-cut botanical motifs. The precise, bevelled edges, high-gloss finish, and seamless joints all attest to the quality of craftsmanship. Condition: very good – the glass is intact, with undiminished color intensity and original lustre. This bonbonniere carries the spirit of an era that celebrated modernity while drawing on classical roots. The pink rosaline glass conjures the refined ambiance of an interwar drawing room, where utilitarian objects became small works of art. The black hyalite details provide graphic discipline, while the cut leaves on the lid seem to whisper of a love for nature and the geometric harmony that defined Art Deco. The bonbonniere can serve as a striking accent on a sideboard in the living or dining room—either as a vessel for sweets or as a decorative object in its own right. When paired with other pressed glass from the 1920s and 1930s, modernist porcelain, or brass accessories, it highlights the collector's spirit of the interior. Surrounded by natural wood or textiles in a muted palette, it creates a refined dialogue between history and the present. The bonbonniere is made of rosaline and hyalite glass, using techniques of moulding, cutting, and polishing.
