ABOUT PRODUCTID 24901
This Art Deco bonbonniere, attributed to the Josef Pfeiffer manufactory in Ohří, was produced in Germany between 1921 and 1940. Crafted from white porcelain and finished with a glossy glaze, it features a harmonious, rounded body and a gently domed lid topped with a conical gold-finished knob. The decoration consists of stylized, geometric plant motifs—branches and alder shoots—painted in hues of red, brown, black, and refined gold, which also accent the edges and details. The design reveals oriental influences in its linear structure and arrangement of ornamentation. The porcelain is smooth and lustrous, with a cool white sheen complemented by warm terracotta and gold accents. All decorative elements are original and preserved in very good condition, with no visible damage or signs of restoration. This bonbonniere conveys the spirit of an era that sought modernity through a dialogue with nature and the allure of the exotic. Its form and ornamentation evoke the 1920s—a time when geometric abstraction met fascination with the Orient, and everyday objects acquired the status of small artworks. The gilding and stylized lines conjure images of a salon from a century ago, where light dances off porcelain and each detail—branch, shoot, line—tells a story of understated elegance.Displayed atop a modernist vanity or Art Deco sideboard, the bonbonniere finds a striking context. It could be paired with a crystal decanter, a mirror in a geometric frame, or other porcelain vessels from the 1920s to highlight its historical pedigree. This piece works well in both a collector’s eclectic interior
