ABOUT PRODUCTID 5116
This Art Deco bonbonniere, produced by Mathes & Ebel at the Mebendorf manufactory in Saxony between 1928 and 1935, is a distinctive example of German porcelain craftsmanship from the interwar period. The vessel is made of cool, white glazed porcelain with a faceted, architectural form. Its surface is adorned with hand-painted decorations: segmented gold lines, stylized stepped Art Deco patterns, and floral motifs in vivid orange-red with black-gray leaves. Gilding accentuates the vertical lines on the four spherical feet and the rounded finial, highlighting the geometric harmony of the piece. With proportions of 11.5 cm in diameter and 12 cm in height, the bonbonniere functions as a container for sweets or jewelry, while the signature on the underside confirms its authenticity. Condition: excellent, with no damage or visible signs of wear or restoration. This porcelain object tells the story of European Art Deco—a time when geometric precision harmonized with the richness of hand-applied decoration. The gilded lines guide the eye around the form, evoking the rhythm of 1930s urban architecture, while the intense red of the floral motifs introduces a subtle note of expressive energy. The bonbonniere seems to whisper of an era when detail conveyed individuality and porcelain stood for refined taste. The bonbonniere could be placed
