ABOUT PRODUCTID 286
This hen-shaped bonbonniere, produced by the Ząbkowice Glassworks in the 1970s, is made entirely from transparent pressed soda glass, characterized by its clear color and notable clarity. The construction consists of two parts: a removable lid forming the silhouette of a hen and a bowl-like base featuring a woven basket motif. The glass surface is smooth and glossy, with pronounced molded feather details on the body, wings, and tail of the hen, and a basket-weave texture on the base. The proportions are harmonious: the rounded body and upright tail create a unified, closed figural composition. All decorative elements are formed directly in the glass during the pressing process, with no additional fittings or seams. The bonbonniere is preserved in very good condition—with no chips, cracks, discoloration, or signs of repair. The surface retains its original luster and freshness. This piece echoes the spirit of the 1970s, when utilitarian glassware adopted new forms inspired by folk motifs and household rituals. The figural hen, guarding sweets or small treasures, feels like a playful quotation from memories of home life. The transparent glass, reflecting light across its glossy surface, highlights the whimsical character of the design, while the intricate molded details pay homage to the era’s craftsmanship—allowing an everyday object to speak with richness and nuance. The bonbonniere would suit display on a living room sideboard, where it could be paired with other glassware from the period or with simple wooden furniture to emphasize its rustic roots. It may be combined with ceramics in natural hues or with linen textiles, accentuating the hen and basket motif in a collector’s or country-inspired interior. In eclectic arrangements, it can serve as a humorous counterpoint to minimalist forms, while in more classic settings, it might evoke family traditions and the warmth
