ABOUT PRODUCTID 4861
This bonbonniere, silver-mounted and crafted in 1942 at the Józefina Glassworks in Szklarska Poręba, designed by Sigfried Haertl, exemplifies Central European glass artistry of the Art Deco period. The body and lid are made from layered, lead crystal in clear and deep indigo tones, accentuated by faceted panels and a geometric silhouette. The surface features galvanic silver ornamentation of 1000/1000 fineness: stylized plant motifs and geometric latticework inspired by the Vienna Workshops aesthetic. A substantial, polished silver finial crowns the lid, serving as a distinctive focal point. The vessel measures 15.5 cm in height and 12 cm in diameter. Edges are precisely cut, and the interplay between matte and glossy glass with the mirror-like silver inlays gives the bonbonniere a striking modernist presence. Preserved in excellent condition—free from chips, cracks, or signs of wear; the glass remains clear and the silver retains its original shine.
This bonbonniere reflects the dialogue between tradition and the avant-garde of the 1940s, when European glassmaking sought new means of expression. Its form speaks of a time when geometric reduction and cubist inspirations were combined with meticulous metalwork. The play of light on the silver inlays evokes the ambiance of Vienna salons and modernist experimentation, while the deep blue glass captures
