ABOUT PRODUCTID 33458
The Ipsen ceramic centerpiece bowl from Denmark, dating to the 1920s, represents a rare example of Northern European Art Nouveau craftsmanship. The piece is made of ceramic with a smooth, subtly textured surface, finished in a semi-matte glaze that gently reflects light without a pronounced gloss. The shallow, softly modeled form features an undulating rim, where a warm gradient of orange transitions seamlessly into olive green, reinforcing its organic character. The interior is adorned with a three-dimensional, raised motif of a fish and aquatic plant, rendered in earthy browns and greens. The relief decoration provides not only visual interest but also a tactile dimension. The underside bears the signature confirming its authenticity as an Ipsen manufacture. The bowl has undergone professional restoration: a chip on the underside was carefully filled and color-matched. The overall condition is very good, with original details preserved and only minimal signs of use typical for a piece of its age.
This bowl carries the quiet voice of 1920s Danish Art Nouveau: organic lines and subtle relief evoke underwater scenes, where light plays softly on fish scales and delicate leaves. The forms seem to flow without rigid
