The HALF METER lamp by Pholc, designed by Maria Bruun and Anne Dorthe Vester in 2023, is a contemporary lighting fixture defined by its cylindrical silhouette and balanced proportions. The shade, crafted from textile or polymer cocoon in a warm off-white hue, features regular vertical ribbing that accentuates the tactile quality of the material while adding subtle depth. The base, made from satin-finished aluminum in a cool silver tone, creates a crisp contrast with the matte surface of the shade, forming a cohesive, minimalist composition. Measuring 32 cm in diameter and 50 cm in height, the lamp functions both as a floor and table piece, drawing from Scandinavian traditions that combine precise craftsmanship with everyday usability. The lamp’s form conveys calm and restraint—vertical grooves guide the eye along the height of the shade, creating a sense of rhythm and lightness, while the satin base reflects light in cool tones. HALF METER adopts a contemporary minimalist vocabulary, where every detail is deliberate and materials remain true to their original texture.
