ABOUT PRODUCTID 37680
The 'Irena' mocha set is a design by Marian Pasich, created in 1958 for the Chodzież Porcelain Works in Poland. The set includes six cups with saucers, a sugar bowl, a creamer, and a tall coffee pot, all crafted from high-quality glazed porcelain. The main color is a warm ivory, overlaid with a striking abstract camouflage pattern in shades of black and medium gray; this bold, graphic motif covers the exterior of each piece, while interiors remain uniform. Handles, spouts, and finials are finished in glossy black, lending a distinctive modernist accent. Surfaces are smooth and lustrous, typical of premium glazed porcelain. The proportions are harmonious: the cups have subtle forms, gently elongated handles, and sharply defined details that capture the spirit of Polish 1950s modernism. Each base is marked 'Ćmielów | CHODZIEŻ | MADE IN POLAND.' The set is preserved in very good condition, showing no visible signs of use—likely never used. This service speaks with the voice of the 1950s in Polish porcelain: it tells of a time when experimentation with form and pattern intertwined with precision and lightness. Each piece recalls the moment when modernity began to permeate daily rituals, and coffee shared from these cups became a small celebration of the contemporary. The abstract motif on the white ground evokes the rhythm of a city seen through a window—dynamic yet calm, ready to accompany both morning conversations and afternoon gatherings. The 'Irena' set may be paired with other mid-century porcelain or minimalist modern tableware
