This sculptural art glass vase, attributed to Mstišov Glassworks in Czechoslovakia and dating from the 1960s, exemplifies the modernist approach to decorative glass of the mid-century era. Hand-shaped from thick, heavy glass, the vase displays a bold, asymmetrical silhouette culminating in a dramatically pulled rim. Deep forest green serves as the foundation, accented by vivid emerald and warm olive tones that flow organically through the substantial glass body. The layered coloration shifts and deepens depending on the angle and light, creating optical effects and a play of depth that is enhanced by the high-gloss, polished surface. There are no visible seams or mold lines—evidence of skilled hot-working techniques—while the base retains a gentle curvature that echoes the organic lines of the piece. The vase has no additional decorative fittings or metalwork; the focus remains entirely on its sculptural form and interplay of color. Preserved in excellent vintage condition with no chips, damages, or signs of wear, it retains its authenticity and collectible character. This vase tells the story of Czechoslovak modernism, which in the 1960s liberated glass from its traditional confines and allowed it to assume sculptural, expressive forms. The colors seem to flow inward like forest light filtering through dense foliage, while the dynamic outline suggests movement—as if the object captured a moment of organic transformation. The piece speaks with the voice of experimentation and artistic freedom characteristic of Mstišov’s glassmakers, embodying the creative spirit and search for new means of expression in post-war art glass. This object can be paired with a minimalist 196
