ABOUT PRODUCTID 5010
This Secessionist tray for glasses, produced around 1900 by the renowned Viennese manufacturer Argentor, exemplifies the harmonious blend of metal and glass in a functional, decorative form. The wide, circular tray is crafted from brass and pewter, silver-plated to achieve a bright, subtly warm silvery hue with a high-gloss finish. The centerpiece is a clear cut glass insert featuring a starburst rosette pattern, which catches and reflects light in a multifaceted way. The rim is adorned with a fine beaded border, a testament to the Art Nouveau era’s attention to detail. Two side handles, with flowing, organic lines and stylized plant motifs, extend seamlessly from the edge, while the tray rests on three small spherical feet, gently elevating its profile. The underside bears the Argentor manufacturer’s signature, confirming authenticity. The tray is preserved in very good condition, with a gentle, age-appropriate patina and no visible damage or signs of heavy use. This tray echoes the voice of Viennese Secession—a period that sought new beauty in everyday objects, drawing inspiration from nature and the freedom of line. The metal, glowing with silvery sheen, seems to speak of an era when art entered salons and social gatherings. The rosette-cut glass reflects light as if inviting celebration, while the plant-like handles suggest the delicacy and fluidity of the fin de siècle. Every detail expresses harmony and decorative finesse without sacrificing function. The tray could serve as the focal point on a classic sideboard or console table in the living room—perfect for displaying crystal glasses or a decanter. It can be paired with other Art Nouveau objects, such as
