ABOUT PRODUCTID 33972
This sideboard, designed by Jiří Jiroutek and manufactured by Interier Praha in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s, is a refined example of Central European modernism. Its construction is based on a balanced rectangular form: the left side features tall doors with a vertical walnut grain, while the right consists of four wide, handleless drawers displaying a horizontal veneer pattern. The entire piece is supported by splayed, tapered legs that provide a sense of visual lightness. The warm, medium-brown walnut veneer shows a subtle reddish undertone and pronounced natural wood grain, brought out by a satin finish that emphasizes texture without excessive gloss. The only metallic detail is a discreet lock on the doors. Proportions are harmonious and well-calibrated, with the sideboard remaining in very good condition—only minor scratches and minimal traces of use are visible, mainly on the body, with no major damage or repairs. The piece retains its original vintage character. This sideboard echoes the voice of the 1960s: an era where functionality and clarity met the discipline of line and understated material elegance. The walnut veneer unfolds in a calm, rhythmic pattern, while the splayed legs evoke the optimism and lightness of Central European modernism. The piece seems to tell the story of a time that believed in honest craftsmanship and durability—every detail is devoted to harmony and user comfort, with no superfluous ornamentation. The sideboard is well suited for a living room or bedroom inspired by mid-century modern aesthetics, where it may be paired with a low table on slender legs, an upholstered chair with a geometric profile, or a minimalist floor lamp. Its pronounced lines and wood texture are best accentuated against light walls and complemented by ceramic or glass accessories
