ABOUT PRODUCTID 34844
This tea caddy from the Norblin manufactory in Warsaw is a sophisticated example of late 19th to early 20th-century craftsmanship. Made from hand-cut crystal glass with a cool, transparent hue and subtle matte botanical engravings, it features a broad, slightly flattened body with rounded shoulders for a harmonious silhouette. The lid and collar, crafted from silver-plated metal with a satin-matte finish, are adorned with raised geometric and floral motifs in relief, including a decorative medallion atop the domed lid and diamond-shaped cartouches circling the collar. Transitions between glass and metal are seamless and precise. The piece is preserved in very good, authentic condition, displaying only minimal patina on the metal elements consistent with its age. No signs of damage, restoration, or excessive wear are visible. This tea caddy evokes the era when tea was both a beverage and a ritual. The crystal glass, etched with delicate motifs, captures and diffuses light with subtle reflections, freezing a moment in time. Silver-plated details recall the refined atmosphere of Warsaw salons under Russian rule – spaces filled with conversation, porcelain, and the gentle clink of spoons against glass. The form whispers of Art Nouveau softness and bourgeois prestige, as each detail seems to tell of family gatherings and carefully upheld traditions. This piece can be displayed as a striking accent on a classic sideboard or within a collector’s vitrine. It pairs well with period porcelain, silver teaspoons, or linen napkins, creating a refined setting for afternoon tea. In a contemporary, minimalist interior, it might serve as a subtle yet distinctive counterpoint, invoking the spirit of a bygone era. Consider arranging it with other glass or silver-plated objects to highlight the material’s depth and historical
