ABOUT PRODUCTID 14020
This glass vase, designed by Marian Gołogórski and produced at the Krakow Glass Institute in the 1970s, is reminiscent of the classic amphora form. The vessel features a tall, tapering body and a stable, wide base, crafted from transparent glass in a vivid red shade with a subtle tonal gradient. The upper section is adorned with a geometric honeycomb texture that transitions into a smooth, glossy finish toward the base. Two symmetrical, circular handles accentuate the neck, lending the silhouette a balanced rhythm, while the substantial thickness of the glass is especially visible at the broad, rounded edge of the base. The piece embodies a synthesis of mid-century modern styling and the bold color experimentation characteristic of Polish glassmaking of the late 60s and 70s. The vase is preserved in very good condition, free from any cracks, chips, or significant traces of use — with pristine clarity and color. The form of this amphora-like vase echoes an era defined by artistic boldness — the 1970s, when Polish design balanced modernist restraint with expressive color and structural exploration. The clear red glass captures and refracts light, while the geometric surface motif subtly alludes to the rhythm of urban architecture and fascination with texture. The handles, referencing ancient prototypes, are both functional and symbolic — bridging centuries of design and reflecting the search for new forms in postwar Polish glass.
