The Alky armchair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1969, exemplifies a pioneering approach to upholstered lounge seating. This version, finished in beige Kvadrat Divina 106 wool, features a compact, monolithic body with low, wide proportions, where the seat and backrest merge into a continuous, softly contoured silhouette. Organic flowing lines meet a uniform, matte surface and subtle polished aluminum details at the base of the legs. The construction relies on an aluminum support element, while internal elastic bands ensure stability and comfort. The chair’s surface offers a gently felted, lightly textured quality, characteristic of premium wool. The overall form is seamless, with no visible joints or fittings, emphasizing its cohesive, harmonious character. Alky conveys restrained comfort and a modern approach to relaxation.
