The Alky lounge chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1969, exemplifies a groundbreaking approach to form and upholstery technology. This contemporary production follows the original concept: the entire chair is wrapped in a uniform, matte Kvadrat Divina wool in a warm medium brown. The subtly textured upholstery envelops a sculptural body—seat and backrest flow seamlessly into integrated legs, all supported by discreet brushed aluminum feet. The chair’s proportions—low, wide, with soft curves and no visible seams—bear the hallmarks of mid-century modern, minimalist, and contemporary Italian design. Alky’s form reads as a visual dialogue between softness and precision. The monolithic shape evokes organic sculpture: unified and restrained, free from unnecessary detail.
