Platone is a folding desk designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1970, now reissued in accordance with the original vision. The construction features a deep, matte black tabletop with a cool undertone, resting on a pronounced chrome-plated steel tubular frame. Its signature element is the patented three-disc hinge system, allowing the desk to fold flat against the wall as a compact object. The top measures 830 × 650 mm and stands at 730 mm high, supported by two side legs that subtly splay at the base for stability. The minimalist form with visible joints and a smooth, matte surface highlights the modernist core of the design, while the interplay of black and mirrored chrome gives the piece a restrained, graphic rhythm.
