The Klepsydra chair, designed by Krystian Kowalski for 366 Concept, is a contemporary, full-sized reinterpretation of Teresa Kruszewska’s 1963 design. Its construction is defined by a distinctive hourglass motif: the continuous curved band forming the backrest and armrests is crafted from lacquered beech wood in a deep matte black, while the seat is tightly hand-woven from natural rattan in a light beige tone. The chair’s signature silhouette—narrowed at the waist and smoothly encircling the user—is accentuated by wide, flat legs with rounded edges and a lower curved stretcher that echoes the upper arc, reinforcing both the hourglass theme and the chair’s stability. Proportions are carefully calibrated: the seat is broad and low (seat height 45 cm), with overall dimensions of 72 × 54.5 × 51.5 cm, and the armrest band rises from 70 to 72 cm at the rear. Meticulous finishing and the taut rattan weave lend the seat a subtle resilience and fine texture, harmonizing with the graphic black of the wooden frame. Klepsydra’s visual language references modernist formal discipline while retaining an organic softness.
