The Plia folding chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1967, is an icon of Italian design from the late twentieth century. In this version, it combines a slender, matte black painted steel frame with a transparent yellow polycarbonate seat and backrest. The innovative folding mechanism, based on Piretti's "three-disc pivot," enables easy folding and storage while maintaining structural stability. The rounded rectangular shapes of the seat and backrest, along with slim tubular legs, emphasize the balanced geometry of the design. The yellow polycarbonate, with its glossy, light-reflecting surface, enhances the chair’s visual lightness and creates a striking contrast with the deep black frame, visible through the transparent material.
