The Plia folding chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1967, combines a slender, powder-coated black steel frame with a transparent polycarbonate seat and backrest. Its form is based on the innovative patented "three-disc" pivot mechanism, enabling smooth folding and unfolding without compromising stability. The construction uses thin steel profiles with rounded edges and precise welds, while the transparent surfaces add lightness and visual neutrality. The proportions are well balanced: a wide, flat seat and gently curved backrest provide ergonomic support, and every detail—from polished pivots to seamless edges—reinforces the chair’s modern, functional identity.
