The Tiles Moon J wall light is a contemporary sconce, handcrafted in a Portuguese workshop as part of a collaboration with Dutch designer Marianne Smink. The construction consists of two square ceramic tiles arranged vertically, supported by a subtle aluminum profile and mounted flush to the wall with no visible hardware. Each tile is screen-printed in a natural palette: a warm, bright yellow with a gentle gradient and a minimalist white quarter-circle in a geometric arrangement. The glossy ceramic surface reflects light softly, while the concealed light source behind the tiles diffuses a gentle, ambient illumination. Finishing details—slight variations in glaze and shade—highlight the artisanal, unique quality of each piece. The sconce speaks the language of modern minimalism: clean lines and balanced proportions meet abstract mid-century geometry. The interplay of glossy ceramic and handcrafted nuances creates a visual dialogue between pattern repetition and individual artistry. The tiles evoke fragments of a mural or ceramic mosaic, and the soft light subtly shapes a calm, understated atmosphere. This wall light would work well as an accent in a living room, hallway, or bedroom—anywhere subtle light play and decorative form are valued. It can be paired with matte metal or light wood accessories to emphasize its contemporary character. On neutral walls and with textiles in white, ecru, or muted yellow tones, the graphic motif stands out; combined with other ceramic elements, the fixture creates a cohesive, artful composition.
