The Tiles Moon C wall light, designed by Violaine d'Harcourt, exemplifies contemporary design through its minimalist, geometric form composed of two vertically aligned square ceramic tiles. Each tile is handcrafted in a workshop in the northern region of Coimbra, Portugal, and features a screen-printed motif in natural hues—a warm, creamy beige with a semi-circular white accent at the lower right corner. The subtly glossy ceramic surface is paired with an aluminum support, and the fixture is mounted flush to the wall. This construction allows for indirect light to softly diffuse across the wall, accentuating the gentle color palette and the precision of craftsmanship. Every detail is carefully finished, and natural variations in shade and pattern make each piece unique. The sconce evokes visual associations with phases of the moon and the tranquil simplicity of modernist graphics. The ceramic surface, illuminated by ambient light, acts as a subdued relief—light and shadow emphasize the softness of the lines and the artisanal quality of the handcraft. The minimalist approach is unobtrusive, quietly marking its presence and instilling a sense of calm and harmony in the space. Tiles Moon C works well as an accent in a living room, bedroom, or hallway, especially in interiors inspired by Scandinavian, mid-century, or modern minimalist styles. It can be paired with light-colored plaster walls, matte textiles, and furniture with clean lines and natural wood tones. Consider combining it with other ceramic objects or wall art. In a muted color palette and under diffused side lighting, the wall light will highlight fine details and create a discreet, artistic presence within the interior.
