The Alky lounge chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in 1969, stands as an icon of late 1960s Italian modernism, now produced in a contemporary version. Its construction is defined by flowing, organic lines, with the seat, backrest, and legs merging into a unified, sculptural silhouette. The chair is upholstered in deep black Trevira fabric with a fine, matte texture—tightly fitted to highlight the ergonomic contours and purity of form. Integrated aluminum alloy feet, finished in brushed satin, provide a subtle metallic contrast to the monochromatic upholstery. With generous proportions (66.2 × 83.8 × 74.2 cm), a low stance, and solid support on metal bases, the chair exhibits no visible seams or fasteners. The absence of accent colors or patterns reinforces its minimalist, monochrome character. Alky conveys a sense of discreet strength—its shape recalls a smoothed stone that envelops the sitter, providing privacy and ease.
