The PLOPP bar stool, designed by Oskar Zięta for Zieta Studio, exemplifies an experimental approach to functional form. Crafted from two ultra-thin sheets of stainless steel joined and inflated using FiDU technology, the stool features characteristically organic, crumpled legs and a seamless construction. The 35 cm diameter seat is proportionally balanced by its wide, three-legged supports. A muted beige with a matte finish lends a cool, uniform tone, while the polished, circular chrome footrest introduces a graphic contrast and enhances usability. The overall design aligns with contemporary aesthetics, referencing industrial influences and sculptural innovation. Plopp’s form expresses the tension between control and chance—metal yields like fabric, transforming engineering precision into a visually light, soft-edged mass. Each leg appears as a gesture frozen in motion, evoking an object that blurs the line between furniture and sculpture. The matte beige introduces calm and neutrality, accentuating the experimental nature and subdued expression of the material. The PLOPP bar stool works well at a kitchen island or modern bar, where its interplay of textures and subtle color creates a minimalist rhythm. It can be paired with stools in other metal finishes or chairs with simple lines and upholstered seats. In open-plan loft spaces, it harmonizes with raw concrete, glass, and graphite accents; in warmer interiors, it combines with light wood and soft lighting, which brings out the plasticity of the metal.
