The ASTRO wall lamp, designed by Marta Foit for Thoro, is constructed from a cylindrical body in powder-coated matte brown steel combined with a large transparent plexiglass disc. The lamp measures 28 cm in diameter and 8.5 cm in height. The matte steel contrasts with the glossy, perfectly clear surface of the plexiglass. The minimalist form is free of visible front fixings, emphasizing its geometric, disciplined character. The materials—steel and plexiglass—offer differing textures: soft matte and crystalline clarity. The lamp’s proportions are precisely balanced, maintaining the visual integrity characteristic of contemporary minimalism.The ASTRO’s form communicates calm and restraint; light diffuses gently from the center, as if emanating from within a shadow. The transparent disc creates a sense of subtle aura, while the matte cylinder acts as a visual anchor. The design avoids superfluous detail, focusing on the relationship between light and material.
