The ASTRO wall lamp, designed by Marta Foit for Thoro, exemplifies contemporary Polish design where modern geometry meets precision craftsmanship. The central element is a matte, pastel peach steel cylinder that serves both as the body and the housing for the integrated LED module. Completing the construction is a wide, perfectly round transparent plexiglass disc with a glossy finish, acting as a light diffuser. The interplay of smooth powder-coated steel and glass-like plexiglass accentuates the lightness of the form, while the proportions—28 cm in diameter and 8.5 cm in depth—create a distinct sculptural presence on the wall. The fixture is free from visible front fastenings, emphasizing the clarity of the lines and purity of composition. ASTRO conveys a sense of visual calm and freshness: the transparent disc floats around the warm pastel center, evoking associations with a light orbit or a subtle optical phenomenon. The softly diffused light from the central LED module highlights the delicacy of the materials and the graphic simplicity of the shape. The design balances between technological precision and a mid-century modern poetic touch, giving the impression of an object that is both functional and quasi-artistic.
