The ASTRO wall lamp, designed by Marta Foit for Thoro, was developed in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Its construction features a perfectly circular disc of transparent plexiglass and a central steel cylinder, finished in a uniform matte white. The transparent disc acts as a light diffuser, while smooth surfaces and the absence of visible joints reinforce the minimalist character. The proportions between the disc and the cylinder are precisely balanced, and the contrast between matte steel and glossy plexiglass highlights the contemporary, technical language of the design. The lamp is rendered in a cool white palette, with a distinct play of light and shadow across its materials.The form of the sconce evokes a sense of visual quiet—its transparent disc appears weightless, while the matte white central element softens the light and subtly accentuates the wall’s texture. The design expresses a drive toward reduction and clarity, with every detail serving harmony and function. ASTRO employs a gentle play of light, turning the fixture into an architectural detail—present, yet unobtrusive within the space.This model works well as a single accent in a living room, hallway, or bedroom, but can also be used to create larger compositions—arranged in a row or as an asymmetrical cluster of several fixtures on one wall. It can be paired with light, neutral walls, glass, white or grey upholstery, and furniture with smooth surfaces. It is worth combining with minimalist accessories and diffused lighting to maintain a coherent, modern aesthetic.The fixture is designed for a 7.5W LED light source with a 3000K color temperature.
