The ASTRO taupe wall sconce by Thoro is a project by Marta Foit, created in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. The design features a powder-coated steel cylinder in a matte taupe shade, set within a perfectly circular transparent plexiglass disc. The front of the lamp is free from visible screws or fasteners, emphasizing the disciplined composition. The interplay between matte steel and glossy plexiglass creates a distinct yet orderly relationship of textures. With a diameter of 28 cm and a height of 8.5 cm, the sconce fits the proportions characteristic of minimalist, contemporary wall fixtures. It is available in 19 colors within the Thoro collection, allowing for a broad range of options.ASTRO communicates calm and architectural restraint. The circle as a central motif, combined with the juxtaposition of industrial materials and transparency, suggests balance and lightness. The lighting becomes an integral element of the wall, with details serving solely to enhance the light rather than act as decoration. The presence of the lamp is understated, and its visual language references Scandinavian simplicity and rationality.The sconce will work well as a standalone lighting accent in the living room, hallway, or bedroom, where atmospheric, diffused light is important. It can be combined with other fixtures from the same series to create a composition with varied intensity. It is worth pairing with light plaster, concrete, matte paints in neutral tones, and furniture with geometric lines. The transparent disc pairs well with wood, glass, and textiles in taupe, grey, or muted pastel shades.The sconce is designed for an LED light source with a maximum power of 7.5 W and a light color of 3000K. Made of matte steel and transparent plexiglass, it weighs 0.5 kg and is intended for wall mounting.
